2009 the official maps section. Here you can find the locations of all necessary venues and events
during SOFIMUN '2009.
First
you will notice a main map of Sofia with symbols
of the main places which you will visit as part of
your participation at SOFIMUN 2009.
Below
the main map and the legend you can find maps for
every day of the SOFIMUN 2009 conference,
including instructions on the ways to reach every
marked destination.

International airport SOFIA (If you travel
by airplane you will land at SOFIA airport).
We will have SOFIMUN Ex-com members waiting

TRAIN STATION + BUS STATION
The Central train station of Sofia and the
Central bus station of Sofia are located
next to each other (If you travel by train
or bus you will arrive at this location). We
will have SOFIMUN Ex-com members waiting you
at both the trains station and the bus
station and they will guide you to the
hotel.

CEREMONIES
The opening ceremony (CONFIRMED) and the
closing ceremony (TO BE CONFIRMED) are going
to be held at this place. This is the main
building of the oldest Bulgarian high
education institution - Sofia University
"St. Kliment Ohridkski". The ceremonies are
going to be held in the main ceremonial
hall. Members of SOFIMUN Ex-com staff are
going to escort you in the building.

VENUE
The National Palace of Culture is going to
host the committee sessions of the SOFIMUN
2009 conference. The National Palace of
Culture is awarded with the title WORLD'S
BEST CONGRESS CENTRE (AIPC Apex AWARD2005).
It is the biggest Bulgarian congress and
exhibition centre. The National Palace of
Culture is a multifunctional complex, a
contemporary castle – synthesis of modern
architecture and plastic arts. The
magnificent spaces are spiritualized by more
than hundred works of the monumental
painting, sculpture, wood-carving, Gobelin,
metal plastic, and other art genres…

RESTAURANT
The famous 5-star restaurant "Sky Plaza" at
the heart of Sofia city is situated on the
rooftop of the National Palace of Culture.
It's going to host the Gala closing dinner
for SOFIMUN 2009 conference. This is a
restaurant with perfect view over Sofia city
and excellent service, wonderful cuisine,
and luxurios environment. Especially in the
evenings, when the soft candle lighting, the
flowers and the exotic plants provide an
almost magic environment to the place.

RESTAURANT (TO BE CONFIRMED)
The famous restaurant "Matti-d" is
a place where most of the cultural
orientated events happen. It's a host of
many international cultural festivals and
conferences. This is a
restaurant in which you will go back to the
70-s of the 21 st. century and feel like you
are on a safari. It is a place where you can
calmly have a light lunch, have a
conversation over a cup of coffee and look
at some of the green parts of Sofia city.
The SOFIMUN 2009 participants are going to
have lunch during the plenary sessions at
this elegant restaurant.

RESTAURANT
Restaurant Mehana "Vitosha" ("Mehana" - type
of traditional Bulgarian restaurant) is the
place where the SOFIMUN event is going to
have the Gala opening dinner. It is situated
in the very center of Sofia – on 33, Vitosha
blvd.; it is in traditional Bulgarian style
and reproduces the customs of the Bulgarian
people, their traditions and culture. Let us
tonight get to know unique Bulgarian culture
and the temperamental nature of a Balkan
people - that of the Bulgarian people, of
Bulgaria. People, who love their
entertainment and their guests
wholeheartedly. After the dinner SOFIMUN
participants can come on a night walk and
nighttime sight-seeing of Sofia. We will
walk to the lake "Ariana" and there we can
have a cup cold beverage - trust us - it's
beautiful.

MUSEUM (TO BE CONFIRMED)
The National Museum of History of Bulgaria
is going to be part of the daytime
sight-seeing tour of Sofia. SOFIMUN
participants are going to travel to the
footsteps of Vitosha mountain (15 minutes by
bus) where the Museum is located. There the
SOFIMUN participants are going to have a
guide tour of the museum with English
talking guide person.
